Bragging on my girls for a minute...

I just had to post a couple of stories regarding my fabulous children...:-)

Wen Jun:  another little 5 year old boy, who doesn't speak much English at all, was adopted by another family from Bethel.  The first night, he was hysterical with grief.  Larry went up to their room to help them go shopping (their first China adoption) and he thought Zhi Wei was saying, " Ni Hao Wen Jun" or "hello Wen Jun."  He asked him if he wanted Wen Jun and he nodded yes.  Larry ran upstairs to get her.  She spoke rapid fire Chinese to him and turned to the parents and said, "He's hungry!  Also, he is scared of you, so maybe no angry him!"   She then chattered on in Chinese again and turned to them and said, "I told him that his new Mommy and Daddy love him very much and are going to take care of him.  I told him that he needs to be good boy and if he is, I will give him candy tomorrow."  He happily went with his new parents! so cute!

Macie:  I thought I would have to drag Macie out of Bethel with wild horses.  She fell in love with all of the kids and the whole idea of caring for them.  If I couldn't find her, she was holding hands and chatting or playing with one of them.  She cried when we left and I think my greatest fear/hope of losing one of my kids to international service will come true someday.

Avree:  At the Forbidden City yesterday, she was soooo touched by the beggars outside that she tearfully begged Dad to give her yuan to give to them.  The coordinator said that it probably wasn't a good idea.  She was so sad that we decided to let her do it anyway to encourage that kind of heart.  She felt better and so did we!  She has also clowned around, hugged and played with Wen Jun's hair to make her feel better!

Lia:  She is a hit here.  She insisted on wearing a Chinese dress yesterday.  We went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch and none of the waitresses spoke English.  Wen Jun was chatting them up and Lia wanted her say so she started making up a language and going on and on!  The waitresses were in hysterics and we were too!  She is being very patient with sharing Mama with her new sister.

It is so touching that your chidren are getting to experience China! The Peking Duck, The beggars, The markets.. Having been there, I can appreciate how humbling it is to see the unfortunate in that country..It is something that your family will take with them forever!! Lia looks stunning in her dress! We are so glad to have this site to share your experience...Still miss you....

On the day she wore her Chinese dress, Wen Jun gave her the hairdo! It was this elaborate braided, clipped extravaganza that she did totally by feel!

My dearest Deb and Larry, the stories of the girls do not surprise me at all - thrill me - yes - but not surprise me! It is a tribute to the both of you that they feel so loved that they are not even threatened by having to share you. They also have such deep hearts and thoughts - again just like their mommy and daddy. No superficialness on their parts here. I love you both so much and am very humbled and awed by all of you! Can't wait to hear in person!!! Mom

Thanks for the stories of each girl. What good hearts they have, and we know why they have those kind hearts because we know their Mommy and Dad! Love, Gigi & Boss

I'm actually Zachary's dad, Peter. Wen Jun or Abbey might know me as Peter diaper. I was just with her at Bethel in September. Zach just left last week. We are from RI. I know you met Zach, but I spoke with you via skype. We love Wen Jun and couldn't be happier for her. We of course miss all the kids at Bethel and plan to go back and spend more time there when we get the chance. We would love to be able to visit Wen Jun, but for now delight that she has a new family here in the States, and so happy that we found your Blog. Please say hi to her for us.
